John Pultz
Senior Consultant
You might not know John Pultz, but his colleagues say you’ll want to. “Everybody loves John,” they say, and add with assurance, “You’ll love him, too.”
Known as the “Director of Fun,” this businessman, customer service, training and education expert demonstrates that it is indeed possible to enjoy work, succeed at it, and inspire others to do so as well.
John’s strengths in sales merchandising, profit and loss, customer service and mentoring have made him an asset in every position he’s undertaken. His list of accomplishments includes running the most profitable and customer service-oriented retail stores anywhere.
John joined Albertsons Inc. early in his career and rose to the position of store director, where he was responsible for the total operation of the store, including food market procedures and personnel. He also played a public relations role while there.
John served as vice president and director of retail education and training for Fred Meyer Inc. from 1997 to 2000 before joining Rite Aid as vice president of training and customer service. He served in that capacity until 2007. The recognition and customer service programs he instituted at both organizations are still in place, testimony to his skill at understanding both people and operations.
Family and associates say that John has a knack for “reading” people and seeing their potential. And while others may be self-focused, he pours himself into helping others succeed. Many of the people John has mentored have attained high leadership positions.
His love of life, strong faith and self-lessness are also strong influencers in the work he does in the community. He serves as an auctioneer for United Way and Children’s Miracle Network fundraisers and is the vice president of his homeowners association. Along with auctioneering, he counts reading, yard work and listening to motivational material as his pastimes.
Typically vibrant and joyful, one subject puts more sparkle in his eye than any other: his family. John has been married more than 30 years and has two children and “3 ½” grandchildren.
